Fel Structures

These are concepts I created for Fel structures of the Burning Legion, a vast innumerable army of demons and corrupted races, seemly invincible and unstoppable who seek to destroy all life and doom the universe to eternal darkness.
Since World of Warcraft has its roots in Warcraft, which has its roots as a RTS game, we wanted utilize that in our thinking process for the creation of their buildings and culture kit. How are they created? Would they build like humans? How would they take over an area? What would be the first structure to establish a base? What's their tech tree? Fun stuff to think about and nerd out on.
I also want to thank Patrick Faulwetter for his contributions to the Burning Legion structures during the early development phase.

Exploration concepts.  We wanted their structures to feel alien to us, with magic and runes we can't comprehend.  Portals are a mode of transport for the Legion, so we explored ideas of gates that echo large ancient obelisks looming over you.

A few buildings along with their purpose.  Their end goal is to take over races and destroy worlds, so their structures were focused on that.  RTS design was a big inspiration.

Inspired by the iconic fel meteor falling from the sky, we used that as an idea for how the Legion invaded worlds.  Demonic structures rise from the rain of chaos from the sky.

Early exploration concepts.  We explored levitating structures to convey the sense of powerful magic in their buildings.   They are strictly militaristic, so we imagined their buildings being mobile, moving across the land like an floating armada.
