Dragon Isles

A few early exploration concepts for different landscapes of Dragon Isles. The land of dragons had been hidden from the rest of Azeroth for many years so we brainstormed different ideas of how to sell that. I imagined what people on a ship might see when they first encounter the isles, a land of hidden history and primal magic.

These images are small loose concepts. They are shown here in large format but originally put on a thumbnail board of ideas. For the one above I imagined dragon stones protecting the isles.

We wanted a sense of height so I played with tall peaks and jagged rocks. Dragons can perch on top and keep hidden.

Jagged rocks resemble dragon shapes, teeth, spikes, wings. Perhaps massive proto-dragons turned to stone lie in slumber.
